Malaysia Bag 26 Gold Medals at Islamic Solidarity Games

Malaysia have proven to be a force to be reckoned with in the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) after ending up fourth in medal standings in the third edition of the ISG, which ended recently.

Perolehan Sementara Medali ISG, Selasa (pagi) 1 Oktober 2013

Hingga hari terakhir menjelang Penutupan ISG 2013, persaingan makin ketat di 5 level teratas. Saat ini Indonesia masih bertahan di posisi pertama, dengan total 100 medali. Namun Malaysia naik ke peringkat ke-3 setelah Mesir. Sementara Turki terdepak ke urutan 5 digeser oleh Iran yang kini ambil posisi ke-4.

Gold Rush Slows Down on Sixth Day of ISG

The pursuit for gold medals at the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games slowed for Malaysia when only two gold medals were delivered on the sixth day of games competed among 46 Muslim countries.
 

The national contingent's medal haul of the day were two gold, two silver and eight bronze.

Malaysia Kuasai Emas Bulu Tangkis Beregu Putra

Tim bulu tangkis putra Malaysia merebut medali emas setelah mengalahkan Turki 4-1 pada pesta olahraga negara-negara Islam atau Islamic Solidarity Games III/2013 di Palembang, Sumatra Selatan.
 
Pada pertandingan bulu tangkis di GOR Dempo Jakabaring, Palembang, Kamis (26/9), tunggal pertama Malaysia Goh Giap Chin menang atas Emre Lale 21-14, 21-12. Tunggal kedua Tan Kian Meng menang atas Emre Vural 22 20 dan 21-17.

Team Malaysia’s badminton men’s team too strong for Azerbaijan with a 5-0 win, the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) III 2013, Palembang in South Sumatra.

Chee Wei Steps In For Injured Ricky To Win Country's First Gold Medal At ISG

National Karate exponent Lim Chee Wei gave Malaysia its first gold medal of the Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) by winning the Men's Individual Kata at the Sriwijaya Promotion Center, near here, today.
 

Chee Wei overwhelmed the judges with his dazzling and energetic performance to collect five full points and overcome Djaafer Islam from Algeria while the bronze medal went to Turkey's Mehmet Yakan and Ibrahim Magdy Moussa Aly Hassanin Ahmed from Egypt.

Malaysia on Mission, To Get for Medals

The national contingent to the third Islamic Solidarity Games (ISG) in Palembang, Indonesia will be on a mission to hunt for medals as well as being the last test for athletes prior to the Myanmar SEA Games in December.

ISG will officially start tomorrow until Oct 2 at the Jakabaring Sports Complex which was the venue for the SEA Games in Palembang, Indonesia in 2011.

Daniel Hoping to Strike Gold at Solidarity Games

Swimmer Daniel Bego turned 24 Wednesday with one birthday wish – to win at least a gold medal in the third edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, which begins on Sunday.

The Miri-born swimmer was the hero in the inaugural Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia in 2005, winning two of the five gold medals.

Malaysia Takes Islamic Games Seriously

The Islamic Solidarity Games should not be merely used as a means to earn a ticket to this year’s SEA Games.

“I understand that while these Games are being used to qualify for the SEA Games, they should in no way, shape or form be taken lightly,” said chef de mission Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omar Din on Friday during his visit to the National Sports Complex in Bukit Jalil to oversee the preparations in weightlifting, athletics, karate and taekwondo.
