A total of 55 countries will attend the games and nearly 160 athletes in 12 branches from Turkey will take part in the games.
Turkish athletes will compete to win athletics, badminton, basketball, football, weight-lifting, football, karate, archery, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, wushu and swimming.
The Islamic Solidarity Games is organized by the Islamic Solidarity Games Federation (ISSF) and attended by the member states of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation.
The first ISG was held in 2005 in Saudi Arabia. The second event was cancelled after it had been originally scheduled to take place in Tehran in October 2009.
Azerbaijan will host the 4th Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017.
