Qatar’s volleyball team began its campaign in the prestigious 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games with a 3-1 victory over Cameroon in Group A clash on Monday.
National volleyball team was the strong side in Monday’s clash, showed widely- praised performance to defeat Cameroon (26/24, 19/25,25/18 and 25/23) in group A which also includes Iran, Kuwait and Turkey.
The national volleyball team is scheduled to shake hands with Iran in the same group A on Tuesday.
In Karate competition, Qatar’s Adaham Abdulnasser and Ibraheem Al Zibaidi suffered defeats and missed their chance to reach the second round of the event.
The prestigious games brought together some 1,759 athletes and 624 officials from 38 nations, who are competing in
13 sports including Athletics, Aquatic-Swimming, Archery, Badminton,
Basketball, Football, Karate, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball Indoor,
Volleyball Beach, Weightlifting, and Wushu.
The state of Qatar is participating in six sports including athletics, Archery, Basketball, Volleyball, Karate and Taekwondo.
