Iranian athletes have managed to grab
three more gold medals to raise the country’s total medal count at the
3rd edition of the Islamic Solidarity Games in Indonesia.
On Wednesday, Iranian sportsman Keyvan
Qanbarzadeh exhibited impressive performance at the Jaka Baring Athletic
Stadium of the Indonesian city of Palembang, and won the gold medal in
the high jump with a top effort of 2.20 meters.
Iranian female runner Maryam Tousi clocked 11.67 seconds in the
women's 100 meter final at the Jaka Baring Athletic Stadium later in the
day, and brought home another gold medal. She had run 12.29 seconds in
the women’s 100 meter preliminaries.
Also on Wednesday, Reza Qasemi competed in the men’s 100 meters and
grabbed a mold medal in the final. He finished his campaign with a time
of 10.30 seconds. Qasemi clocked 10.54 seconds in the men’s 100 meter
preliminaries.
The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games opened in the Indonesian city of Palembang on September 22, and will wrap up on October 1.
A total of 88 athletes are representing Iran in the competitions. Athletes from 55 countries are in action across 13 sports.
They are competing in archery, athletics, badminton, basketball,
beach volleyball, football, karate, swimming, taekwondo, tennis,
volleyball, weightlifting and wushu.
