President SBY Will Open The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games Officially in Palembang

President of Indonesia Republic Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono will open the 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang, September 22th 2013 officially.

“He will open this event officially, but regional commitees are still waiting for the certainty,” said Chairmain of Islamic Solidarity Games (InaISGOC) South Sumatera, Muddai Madang during his interview last Tuesday (09/03).


He said that the ISG’s opening ceremony will be held at Gelora Sriwijaya Jakabaring Stadium, according to proposal from regional committee to center committee. “A few days ago, center committee decided teh opening and closing ceremony at Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium, but after observation and examination detaily, the capacity for visitors isn’t enough so that regional committee proposed to change the venue back to Jakabaring Stadium,” he said.

In his opinion, Jakabaring Stadium is bigger and has more complete facilities with visitors capacity approximately around 40.000 people. “Besides, if the event will be held there, it can make easier for regional commitee because the vehicular traffic has already patterned. It’s different with Bumi Sriwijaya Stadium which is located near shopping center,” he said.

He also said that besides our president, the leaders or head of participant countries also come to contribute during this event. “The King of Saudi Arabia will come, also from Qatar and Dubai,” he said.

Around 42 countries will participate in this big event such as Algeria, Azerbaijan, Brunei Darussalam, Burkino Paso, Mesir, Guyana, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Maldives, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and Syria. Then also Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uni Emirat Arab, Uganda, Yemen, Guinea, Mauritania, Gambia, Nigeria, Yordania, Togo, Pantai Gading, Senegal, Cameron, Mozambique, Lebanon, Tunisia, Somalia, Bahrain and Jibuti.
